"THE CANYON" The 2003
Pride of Paoli Show is "The Canyon" composed by Philip Glass.
"The Canyon" was composed in 1988 and commissioned by the
Voorheen ADM Oudegracht, The Netherlands. It premiered on October
18, 1988 played by the Rotterdam Philharmonic and conducted by "The Canyon" is the second piece of a series of symphonically conceived "portraits of nature" (preceded by "The Light" and followed by "Itaipu"). The composition does not refer to a particular canyon; it is based on an "idealized canyon of the imagination". To learn
